ARTISTDawn Ertl

Dawn is a self-taught artist who taught high school science for 33 years.  She grew up in Long Prairie, Minnesota, then moved to Wisconsin for college attending UW-Superior and then University of Nebraska-Lincoln earning her MS degree in entomology in 2001.

When she retired from teaching in 2022, she and her husband moved to Wausaukee, WI.  Upon retirement Dawn was able to pursue her passion for creating art.  She uses dyed wool to create felted pictures, produces stained glass art, and does oil paintings.  Her subjects include mostly things from nature, insects, birds and landscapes.  Some of her paintings are showcased in the children’s book she wrote and illustrated, “Beautiful Insects A to Z”.
