ARTISTDiane Erickson

From my earliest memories I was creating. Every spare moment I had I was drawing, coloring, or creating something. I learned about other mediums in college art classes. While I loved taking these classes, I eventually found abstraction to be my passion.
For years I painted with other mediums but was never able to get the desired results. I always felt something was missing in my work. One night I watched a video on oil and cold wax painting, impulsively bought some supplies and was hooked from the very stroke. I had finally found my medium.
I have always loved color, texture, and pattern, and this method of painting lets me take them all to a whole new level. Applying color and then removing some to reveal the layers underneath creating patterns and effects, asemic writing and texturing all occur in every painting.
I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan surrounded by water and inspiration. I enjoy time with family and friends, gardening or making jewelry, my other passion.
